F World Artists

The Slovak Philharmonis has prepared a new elite cycle of six concerts at the most popular times under the heading World Artists. The cycle guarantees the finest interpretational mastery, introducing the outstanding artistic personalities.
Paul Badura-Skoda  is one of the most exceptional pianists of the present time. This legendary artist has performed in the biggest concert halls and for many years had the largest number of piano recordings on the market. He has recorded a wide repertoire of more than 200 LP`s and compact discs, including the complete cycle of piano sonatas by Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.
The Israeli Schlomo Mintz  has been developing his career for more than thirty years, established by his rocket start at the Carnegie Hall in 1973. Since this time his reputation as an exceptional violinist and violist has escalated. He has co-operated with most of the great orchestras and conductors and has taken part in the most prestigious festivals. Not only is he sought-after as soloist, but also as conductor.
The name Gerd Albrecht is synonomous with his 27- year function as Musical Director in Lübeck. He held the position of Artistic Director in Kassel, Berlin and Zürich. For three years he was the Chief Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic. He is permanent conductor of  the most prestigious opera and symphony orchestras and guest conductor at the most famous festivals ( Salzburg, Munich, Edinburgh, Luzern and Vienna). He took part in the festival in Villach with the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in 1978. This is the legendary Gerd Albrecht`s first performance with the Slovak Philharmonic in the Reduta.
The guest appearance of Martin Turnovský, who was ranked among the foremost Czech conductors during the 60s, will be no less attractive.  He immigrated to Austria in 1968 and has held the post of Musical Director in several large opera houses in Germany and Scandinavia, as well as elsewhere in Europe. His last performance with the Slovak Philharmonic was at the beginning of the 90s.
One of the young stars of the musical world and debutant with the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra is the cellist Claudio Bohórquéz. He was born in Germany as the son of South American parents. Since 1994 he has been studying with Boris Pergamenschikow. In 2000 he was the winner of the Pablo Cassals Competition and since this victory he has worked with some of the most prominent conductors in Europe and the USA. Apart from traditional classical  repertoire he also dedicates himself to contemporary music.
Bori Berezovsky, the star of last year`s Bratislava Music Festival, has made an international reputation as one of the most remarkable piano virtuosos with his exceptional interpretational abilities and unique sensitivity of expression. This winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1990) demonstrates his dazzling abilities at piano recitals, concerts with orchestras and chamber music concerts throughout the world.
Although the Classical – Romantic repertoire dominates this cycle, Bohuslav Martinůs cantata Gilgamesh has been planned for lovers of more contemporary music together with a premiere by the young talented composer Ľubica Salomon- Čekovská.
