F World Artists

The Slovak Philharmonis has prepared a new elite cycle of six concerts at the most popular times under the heading World Artists. The cycle guarantees the finest interpretational mastery, introducing the outstanding artistic personalities.
Paul Badura-Skoda  is one of the most exceptional pianists of the present time. This legendary artist has performed in the biggest concert halls and for many years had the largest number of piano recordings on the market.

E Three Centuries of Music

The core of this cycle is formed by the presentation of important vocal-instrumental works by composers from the Classical and Romantic periods and music from the 20th century.
We are confronted with the works of Johann Nepomuk Hummel, born in Bratislava, on a more or less sporadic basis. The performance of his cantata Polymelos op. 82, inspired by Russian national songs, will therefore be all the more special.

Following the successful traditional of this cycle, the foreign and Slovak conductors Ernst Theis, Martin Studer-Müller, Michel Tabachnik, Rastislav Štúr, Vladimír Válek and Oliver Dohnányi continue their co-operation also during this season.

B Symphonic Cycle

The attraction of the subscription concert cycle of the Slovak Philharmonic is the presentation of large symphonic works. These works form a special part of the program and are all the more remarkable as not all of them are performed regularly.
Charles Gounod is known mainly through his operas. He wrote only two symphonies, influenced by the classical masters and at present they are performed only sporadically.
