The sacred work of two great Slovak composers offers a glimpse into the times of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The work on the Jednotný katolícky spevník (translated as Unified Catholic Hymnal) had a significant impact on the musical language of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský. Fifteen years of studying hymnals also contributed to his concert compositions. Ján Levoslav Bella, first a Catholic and later an Evangelical priest, based his work on the ideals of Neo-Romanticism. His sacred music is still only partially explored and unfortunately it is only performed sporadically.
Choirmaster Dušan Bill is an expert in church repertoire, and has premiered several newly discovered works from the archive of St. Martin's Cathedral
