Clarinet Quintet in B flat major, Op. 34

Chamber music from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, which is imbued with still-fading classicism and its precise motivic and formal construction, will be combined with emerging romanticism. The Rosamunde Quartet belongs to the last three of Franz Schubert‘s fifteen quartets. He wrote it after he decided to focus on chamber music after composing songs, thanks to which the well-known quartet Death and the Maiden came into being. The musicality and virtuosity of the works for clarinet from the workshop of Carl Maria von Webercertainly stems from his good friendship with the clarinetist Heinrich Baermann, for whom the works were written.
The Moyzes Quartet will perform at the Philharmonic for the first time in a renewed line-up with Július Horváth as second violin. Soloist Jozef Eliáš has been the first clarinetist of the Slovak Philharmonic since 2008.
